Simple Home Treatments to Remove Blackheads

All of us hate blackheads and getting rid of them is a painful task. Squeezing them out, doing a facial, using nose strips- all can be so overwhelming! With the increasing population around us, the stress of our hectic lifestyle, and harsh chemicals in the products that we use, blackheads are common.

Blackheads are reddish-brown or black, small bumps that block the skin pores. Dead skin cells and excess oil accumulates over the skin follicles, which in turn produces a bump. If the skin over this bump opens, exposure to the air gives it a black colour, thus it got the name, “blackheads.” Squeezing them out is not a great idea as it can cause inflammation, and ultimately, scarring.

Here are a few tips that will help you to get rid of blackheads and avoid them from occurring using simple ingredients readily available at your home. These simple and effective tips will not only help you to get rid of blackheads but also treat acne fast. The ingredients mentioned here will clean the skin pores, eliminate the harmful microbes from the skin and lighten the spots.

Here are a few home remedies to treat blackheads. Try these and you will see the difference soon.

  • Egg white- This face mask can not only help in preventing blackheads but also protect your skin from getting greasy and shiny. Egg white is good in removing blackheads and in tightening the skin pores. Albumin, an important ingredient present in egg whites, is responsible for the pore-tightening property. The egg white mask will also give a glowing effect to your skin. To make a face pack, mix honey and egg. Apply the mixture on the face and once it is dry, wash with warm water. For best results, repeat the process once or twice in a week.
  • Cinnamon– The antibacterial activity of lemon juice works well for treating blackheads, acne, and whiteheads. Cinnamon improves blood circulation and keeps the skin glowing and healthy. Also, it tightens the skin pores and delays ageing. How to use cinnamon for skin? Make a thick paste by mixing cinnamon powder and honey. Apply this mixture on the blackheads. Leave it for nearly 20 minutes and then wash. Repeat this weekly three to four times.
  • Aloe Vera- Aloe vera soothes the skin, cleans pores, and controls oil production. All these, in turn, will help you to get rid of acne, blackheads, and other skin problems. It’s a simple process. You must just extract fresh gel from an aloe vera leaf and apply it directly on your face. Leave it for 10 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. If possible, do it every day for smooth and clear skin. No matter what type of skin you have, aloe vera suits all types of skin.
  • Mint juice and turmeric- Turmeric is a great healing ingredient. Its vital component, curcumin, is antimicrobial and helps in removing the bacteria present in the skin pores. Turmeric also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which improves the health and texture of your skin. Mint juice soothes the skin and produces a cooling effect.  Mix turmeric powder and fresh mint juice to make a paste. Apply this paste on the affected areas and allow it to dry for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water. After this, moisturize the area.
